Compare storage on equivalent space and terms
Starting monthly prices are only part of the comparison. Size, minimum terms and retrieval arrangements matter too.
Separate storage methods
Self-storage rooms, lockers and collection-based storage offer different services. Establish whether you rent a private unit, shared space or storage per item. Record usable dimensions; a monthly price per box is not equivalent to a monthly price per room.
Request a quote for the same rental period
Give each operator the same start date, inventory and expected duration. Ask for promotional and subsequent prices, minimum terms, deposit, retrieval, moving and additional cover charges. Conditional free months should not become a permanent monthly price.
Check how you will access your belongings
If you need frequent access, confirm whether you can visit, how much notice is required and the cost per retrieval. Arrange a visit and measure doors and aisles. A published price does not establish that a particular unit is available today.
